On Friday, I carried Hannah to nap on our bed. The usual routine goes as follows: diaper change, Hannah lies down, I lie next to Hannah and she drinks her watered down juice. Then she will want a update on what "Ierra" and "Bubbie" are doing. My response is always the same,"They are having quiet time and it is time for Hannah to go night-night. Hannah needs to take a nap. We will see Sierra and Andrew when you get up." Then, I close my eyes and pretend to sleep. Hannah will rub my arm. Babble a few words and then she goes to sleep.
Today, I was in for a pleasant surprise. It was a moment I hope I always remember. Hannah followed her usual routine. When I closed my eyes, Hannah rubbed my arm then sat up. I very softly told her she needed to lie down and go night-night. She laid her head on my arm. I closed my eyes and she sat up. This time I didn't say anything. I just gently laid her back on the pillow and closed my eyes almost shut. I was expecting her to sit back up again. At this moment, she did something that she has never done before. She put her hands together, right next to her nose, squinted her eyes closed and said, "Jesus." Then she spoke some baby babble and next I heard "Jesus. My Daddy". Still keeping her hands in position and eyes closed, she said more baby babble and "Jesus. My Daddy boots!" I had to put my hand over my mouth. I was supposed to be asleep and didn't want her to see me smiling. It was all I could do not to open my eyes all the way and give her a kiss. Instead, I just prayed with her as she said more baby babble to Jesus. I prayed that she would accept Jesus as her Savior at an early age and that He would grow her up to be a women after His heart. When she finished her prayer, she rolled over and within 5 mins. she was asleep. I really don't know all she was saying to Jesus but I know Jesus understood. From a Mommy's perspective, she was probably asking Jesus for her Daddy to rescue her from nap time. All I know is that my 21 month old had her first conversation with Jesus and I got to sit in and listen. Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." At this moment, I was in the presence of my Savior while He heard Hannah call out to Him. Wow, just think, if I had just taken her to her crib, laid her down and walked out of her room, I would have missed this moment. Laying down with Hannah didn't seem inconvenient this day. It was a joy. I am glad I didn't miss it.
Daily Verse
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
