Nanny wrote 5 journal pages while Flat Andrew visited her and Grandma. I have condensed the pages and have the highlights listed below.
Flat Andrew's Journal
On January 16th, 2008, Flat Andrew visited SC.
The people he visited were Nanny and Grandma.
These are some things Flat Andrew did while he visited.
On the first day, Flat Andrew and I went to Toys R Us to find Austin and Steven (cousins) some roller blades. He also helped me cook dinner.
On January 17th, we woke up to a postcard picture Winter wonderland. Everything outside is white with all the snow that fell during the night. After breakfast, Flat Andrew and I dressed in warm clothes and headed out into the snow. Flat Andrew wanted to give the birds some seed to eat on the picnic table. After feeding the birds, he wanted to make a snowball (this is what I was afraid of) and throw them at each other. The battle was on and I was feeling my age. Flat Andrew has a good strong arm for a small boy. After getting all wet and cold, we went inside to change clothes. Then, we played board games, puzzles, and watched movies. More of Flat Andrew's adventures tomorrow.
On January 18th, Flat Andrew is having breakfast with Grandma. They are talking and enjoying each other. Grandma can not believe how much Flat Andrew loves to eat and is not a picky eater like the other grand boys. Flat Andrew is talking about how much he loved the snow yesterday and playing outside. I told him to go get dressed and we headed out for a quilt class. Flat Andrew helped put all the sewing supplies in the car. What a help he has been the last several days . I have really enjoyed spending time with him. He really enjoys doing different things and is up to trying whatever I suggest. What a joy to be around him.
During the class, Flat Andrew learned about counting and measuring. He seemed to enjoy the class. If he asked one question there must have been at least 100 more question he asked.
After the class, we went to McDonald's and after eating he was allowed to play on the inside playground for an hour. We then went to the movies and even got popcorn and a drink. No candy because it makes Flat Andrew too active and I wanted to catch a nap during the movie.
After the movie, we went to Walmart and got a new puzzle. On the way to the car, Flat Andrew told me that he needed to go to the bathroom. Back to the store we went. Flat Andrew is too big to go to the ladies room so I stood at the men's door and waited on him. I thought he got flushed down the toilet because he took so long in coming out!
When we got home, Grandma told Flat Andrew that she would help him with his new puzzle but she was not real good since she was getting older. Flat Andrew told her it was okay they could help each other. What nice manners Flat Andrew used. Helping other people is what God wants us to do. Making them feel like they are loved and still needed even though they can not do as they once could. Flat Andrew went to get Grandma some water so she could take her medicine. He has been a lot of help while he has been visiting.
More fun tomorrow and Nanny has a surprise in store for Flat Andrew.
Saturday, January 19th, this morning it is a special day for SC. Today is the day our state votes on who is to be the Republican to run for President in the election. After eating and making the beds, we all bundled up in warm coats to go vote. Flat Andrew wants to know why we are going to vote instead of playing. I explained that it is a freedom that we have to vote for who we want to run for President of the US. I talked to him about the voting process and how in some countries they did not have the right to vote. Flat Andrew was so interested in the fact that nobody could go to the voting booth with Grandma or I. I explained that it would not be right because the other person might persuade us to vote for who they wanted to win. After voting, I gave Flat Andrew my sticker that says, "I Voted".
During the day, we went up to Aunt Sherry's for Flat Andrew to play in the snow with Austin and Steven. When we got back home, we made dinner and did an Art project. Then it was bedtime. Tomorrow is the day Flat Andrew must go home. I sure do love Flat Andrew and thank God for letting him be my grandson.
January 20th, today is the day Flat Andrew must go home. Grandma and I really did enjoy his visit. We hope he can come back again when the weather is warmer. Flat Andrew has used his manners while he has been visiting. It is amazing he can eat as much as he does and he enjoys helping in the kitchen and cleaning the house.
I believe Flat Andrew is ready to go home and see his family. I know he misses his sisters and parents. It is always fun to go on trips but nice to get home to your own bed and toys.
Grandma decides to read Flat Andrew one more book before he leaves and gives him a kiss and hug. Flat Andrew said that he loves both of his grandparents and had a good time. I give him a kiss and send him on his way home. Goodbye Flat Andrew. Love, Nanny
Daily Verse
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
